Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 24, 2026

In short: your videos and photos never leave your device — compression happens in your browser. Analytics (Yandex Metrica) runs only if you click “Accept”. If you report a problem, we receive only the text you write, your contact if you give it, and technical details you can review before sending.

1. Who we are

This policy explains how personal data is handled on compross.com (the “Site”). The Site is operated by Pavel Vyacheslavovich Svistunov, an individual registered in the Russian Federation as self-employed (professional income tax payer), taxpayer ID (INN) 592109344780, email psvistunov@bk.ru (“we”, “us”).

This policy covers the English version of the Site at compross.com. The Russian version at compross.ru has its own privacy policy in Russian.

2. Your videos and photos

Compression runs entirely in your browser, on your own device. The videos, photos and GIFs you add are never uploaded to our servers, and we cannot see, store or share them.

To do the processing, your browser downloads program libraries (for example ffmpeg.wasm and Mediabunny) from public content delivery networks. Only the libraries travel over the network — your files stay on your device.

You can see exactly which technical details will be sent before you submit the form. The Site has no user accounts, no payments and no advertising.

We do not process special categories of personal data and do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.

5. Cookies and local storage

TypePurposeRetention
Essential Remembering your cookie choice (compross_cookie_consent in your browser's local storage). No consent is needed — the Site needs them to work. Until you clear site data
Analytics (Yandex Metrica) _ym_uid, _ym_d, _ym_isad and similar — visit statistics and session recording. Set only after you click “Accept”. Up to 1 year

If you click “Decline”, analytics is not loaded, and any analytics cookies already set are deleted. You can change your choice at any time via Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.

6. Who receives your data

We do not sell personal data and do not share it with anyone except:

  • Yandex LLC (Russia) — the Yandex Metrica analytics service, only if you clicked “Accept”. Yandex processes this data on our behalf and under its own privacy policy.
  • Content delivery networks — jsDelivr, unpkg and Cloudflare (cdnjs) deliver program libraries and icons to your browser. Like any website, they receive your IP address and browser information needed to deliver the file. Some of them are located outside Russia.
  • Authorities — when required by law, following the procedure established by law.

7. Where data is stored

Our servers are located in the Russian Federation. Messages sent through the “Report a problem” form and server logs are stored there. If you use the Site from another country, your data will be transferred to Russia. Yandex Metrica data is also processed in Russia.

Report messages are kept until the problem is resolved, but no longer than 1 year. Server logs are kept for a limited time needed for security and troubleshooting.

8. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • find out whether we process your data and get a copy of it;
  • ask us to correct or delete your data;
  • withdraw your consent at any time (this does not affect processing that happened before);
  • object to processing or ask us to restrict it;
  • lodge a complaint with a data protection authority — in Russia, Roskomnadzor; in the EU/EEA or UK, your local supervisory authority.

To exercise your rights, email psvistunov@bk.ru. Please mention compross.com and, for a report you sent, its approximate date and contact. We will reply within 30 days. Because we don't have user accounts, we may ask for details to find your data.

9. Security

  • The whole Site works over HTTPS with modern TLS encryption.
  • Your media files are processed locally and never reach our servers — the main protection of your privacy.
  • Access to our servers is restricted.

10. Children

The Site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The current version is always available at compross.com/privacy-policy.html, and the date at the top shows when it was last changed.
